Terms for the road ahead

Terms of Use

These terms are meant to set clear expectations for using Journey. They are a product-specific working draft, not a substitute for final review by qualified counsel.

Working draft. Last updated July 14, 2026. This document is written around Journey’s planned product and data flows, but operator details must be completed before launch.

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms govern your use of the Journey mobile application, website, content, and related services. By using Journey, you agree to these Terms. In this draft, “Journey,” “we,” and “us” refer to the company that will operate Journey; its full legal name, address, and governing jurisdiction must be added before launch.

You must be at least 16 to use Journey. If the law where you live requires a higher age to enter a contract, a parent or legal guardian must agree for you. Do not use Journey if you are legally prohibited from receiving the service.

2. What Journey provides

Journey offers short educational experiences across subjects such as science, history, psychology, economics, and culture. The service is for general education and personal enrichment. It is not professional medical, legal, financial, or other regulated advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for qualified advice.

3. Accounts

Some features may require an account. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity performed through it. Information you provide must be accurate. Tell us through the in-app support channel if you believe an account has been compromised.

4. Subscriptions, trials, and cancellation

Journey may offer free and paid features. If you purchase an auto-renewing subscription through Apple, payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before that period ends. Pricing and subscription length are shown before purchase.

You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. Deleting Journey does not cancel a subscription. Free-trial eligibility and duration may be limited; any unused part of a trial may be forfeited when a subscription is purchased. Refunds are handled by Apple under its applicable policies, except where law requires otherwise.

5. Your license and acceptable use

We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Journey for non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not:

  • Copy, resell, redistribute, publicly display, or commercially exploit Journey or its content except as law expressly permits.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, circumvent access controls, or interfere with the service or another person’s use.
  • Use automation to extract content or train models without our written permission.
  • Upload malicious code, impersonate another person, or use Journey for unlawful, deceptive, or abusive activity.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or non-public portions of Journey.

6. Content and intellectual property

Journey, including its lessons, artwork, writing, interaction design, trademarks, software, and compilation, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. If you send feedback or ideas, you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation, while we remain responsible for how we choose to use them.

7. Apple terms

If you use the iOS app, these Terms are between you and Journey, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to maintain or support Journey. To the extent a warranty cannot be disclaimed, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the app purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for product claims or intellectual-property claims relating to Journey. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the iOS-related provisions. Your use must also follow the App Store Usage Rules.

8. Changes, availability, and termination

We may improve, add, remove, or discontinue features. We do not promise that every Journey or feature will always be available. You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect Journey or others, comply with law, address nonpayment, or respond to a serious or repeated breach of these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive will continue after termination.

9. Disclaimers and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Journey is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that content is complete, error-free, or suitable for a particular decision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Journey and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities. Our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Journey in the 12 months before the claim or US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so these limits may not apply to you.

10. Disputes and general terms

Before filing a formal claim, you and Journey agree to try to resolve the issue informally through the in-app support channel. The final governing-law, venue, consumer-rights, and any arbitration language must be selected with legal counsel based on the operator’s actual jurisdiction and markets; this draft intentionally does not invent those terms.

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in effect. A delay in enforcement is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the business.

11. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent through Journey’s in-app support channel. The operator’s legal name, monitored email, mailing address, and jurisdiction must be added before these Terms are published.
